Southdown: A downs breed, difficult to felt, with great memory (it doesn’t crease or compress easily) with high loft and good stitch definition. Not merino soft, but quite soft and comfortable. A great choice for socks. This particular southdown comes from happy Mid-Atlantic small-farm sheep.

Note: These sheep were happy but also liked to roll. There is more VM than usual for Gnomespun roving, though it should come out easily enough during spinning.
