Spindle tops are made with various woods, marked in the descriptions.
I notch the spindles behind the hook to allow you to get that last bit on the big cop! If you want an un-notched whorl, I'm happy to make one.

Spindle shafts come in several woods, mostly Birch, Walnut, and Poplar. 

Weights of each spindle and whorl sizes are noted in descriptions.
